So Paul and I hosted our first party, Izzy's 1st Birthday. We had a great time seeing her interact with her family and everyone seemed to have a good time. She also was spoiled. Clothes, toys, and money for her college fund. She did a great job too getting her cake EVERYWHERE! Can't believe a year has already passed.
This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Izzy's 1st Trip to the Redwoods
Well, we haven't been to see Auntie Kari in almost a year and a half (I was 12 weeks pregnant with Izzy) so we went over night to see her this last weekend. Izzy started off the trip with a momentous occasion. We flipped her car seat around so she could see forward. I think she likes it, minus she got car sick. Lucky us. But, we did get to hear some really cool turkeys squawking in the hills. So we went and played on the beach in Trinidad, walked the pier, ate lunch in Trinidad, breakfast at Cafe Brio (excellent new place on the Plaza), dinner at the Lost Coast Brewery, tried to go swimming, but just a little too cold for us, played at Geppetto's Toy Store with the puppets, ate breakfast at Samoa Cookhouse, and went up to the University to look around.
We asked Izzy if she wanted to go to Humboldt State and the kid said, "Haaa". Paul, Kari, and I just started cracking up. So we are hoping that meant Harvard!
