Reesie's 1st Sickness

Well, we made it through. We survived Reesie's first sickness. That kid not only decided that she would get sick, she decided that she would just get really sick.

It started on a Thursday with what we thought was just her teething. She is getting her two top eye teeth even before she gets any other teeth on the top. So we thought she was just running a fever from that and was irritable from the pain. She started running a fever of about 101 which lasted from Thursday to Sunday. She had a really running nose starting on Friday. Poor thing was like a faucet. Her fever finally broke Sunday and this whole time she is sleeping terribly. Uncontrollable crying for hours at a time at night and during the day. For Rees, this is totally out of character. But no rubbing of the ears, eating, peeing, etc. just fine. So I just assumed she had a little cold, maybe with getting those teeth. Then that Tuesday, I get a text from our daycare saying she has stopped drinking (which would have only put her at 2 ounces of milk and no wet diapers). This is VERY out of character for our chunky monkey. So she said that she was afraid she was becoming dehydrated and that I should probably take her to the doctor (along with that she had not slept and was just screaming the whole time). So I picked her up with Izzy and we took her to the doctor which I had called ahead but received no time for an appointment. I figured either they were going to see us or I was going down to the emergency room. So they ended up triaging her in the doctor's office till the doctor could see her. The doctor looked in her right ear and there was an ear infection. The other was good. But we still couldn't explain the screaming and irritablity so the doctor gave us Motrin and Rees immediately fell asleep after also getting an RSV test. So she slept for about 2 hours all the while Paul came and ended up picking Izzy up because he had an important meeting he couldn't miss for school. Luckily, Izzy is awesome and she just sat there through the whole meeting and only interrupted to describe a picture she was drawing. So Rees finally woke up and drank 6 oz of milk. The doctor again checked in on us (we stayed at the doctor's office because we weren't exactly sure what was going on and the doctor was afraid she might have meningitis. So after she woke up. The doctor saw her. She appeared in a much better mood. We ended up leaving with an antibiotic and later found out not only did she have an ear infection she also had RSV. http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/rsv.html So we are now healthy. Lucky, Mommy also got it too. It was horrible. But we are all back to normal. Now if we can just grow those teeth so they can stop bothering us at night.
