It is proven today that a 2.6 year old toddler can do dishes. She is amazing! She was so happy to do the dishes. Although it took us longer, including her gave her so much power. Paul is hoping to work himself out of a job in the near future and by the looks of things she may only need us to load and do the tough scrubbing. Anyone need someone to wash dishes? She works for movies, cheese, cake, turkey, yogurt, shakes, chocolate, and milk.
This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Empire Mine
We had a great visit with my parents a few weekends ago and headed back up to Empire Mine State Park. We had been there last summer, but couldn't stay long because of all the fires. The weather was perfect. Izzy was more mobile this time as well, so she was able to do a little more exploring. I highly recommend this state park especially for kids.
Beautiful Pictures
Just some random, pretty pictures of Izzy playing in the sandbox. Even with a sandy, dirty face she is striking.
The Final Swim Pictures
Swim lessons were good and bad this year. First, she was in a class of 5 boys, all older and her. Second, we may have pushed her a little too hard the third night and then she didn't want to get back in the water the other two nights. So Mommy had to get in and do Mommy and Me classes which are fine, but we want her to learn to swim without us. Then to top it all off we had weird weather which was rainy and cold, in August. When does that ever happen? So we will try again next year and hopefully be able to get a smaller group, maybe with some girls.

Prayers
Izzy has been practicing praying before bed, she originally started on her own at dinner time and so we have been trying to continue it at bed time. So she usually says (with help), "Thank you Jesus for...." and then she independently fills in the people. So it typically is the grandparents and great-grandmas, Paul and I, her Aunts and Uncle, and cousins. Tonight it started that way and then stopped at, "Kari"... (pause)... "the chickens". Yes, she even included Auntie Kari's chickens in her prayers tonight. She got super excited, when I told her, that Auntie Kari might be bringing us fresh eggs.
