We are two days away from our baby starting preschool. I am starting to feel nervous for her. Will she have a good experience? Will she make friends? Will the kids like her? Will she be too silly? Will she learn? Will she like the food? Will her teacher like her? Will the curriculum be too challenging for her? Will she like homework? There are so many questions. School is an adventure. Paul and I have personally taken that adventure and see it every single year with our new classes. May her teacher love her and be patient with her. May the children in her class be kind to her as she needs to be kind back. And may she have fun. She is four. That is what I need to remember.
This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

2 Days Away
We are two days away from our baby starting preschool. I am starting to feel nervous for her. Will she have a good experience? Will she make friends? Will the kids like her? Will she be too silly? Will she learn? Will she like the food? Will her teacher like her? Will the curriculum be too challenging for her? Will she like homework? There are so many questions. School is an adventure. Paul and I have personally taken that adventure and see it every single year with our new classes. May her teacher love her and be patient with her. Camping at Donner Lake
Packing up and couldn't put Rees down so she became my friend and went with me.
Lunch at 50 50 Brewery in Truckee. Yum-yum!
Just before we went to ride Shroeder at NorthStar at Tahoe.
Just before we went hiking up to the Lake.
Izzy out fishing with her Princess fishing pole.
Sisters playing with the bubbles. Look at the excitement in Reesie's face.
A gorgeous picture of Isabella.
We went on our second Schlueter-Claussen camping trip this past week. There were a lot of good times and some difficult/challenging ones too. Izzy got to ride her favorite horse, Schroder up at NorthStar-At-Tahoe. We love going up there. This is her second time riding Schroder, and this time it was a personal request and they even saddled him up for us (he is the oldest pony there, but the love of her life). Izzy was able to practice her new fishing skills. She loves the idea of doing things, but sometimes putting all those thoughts into action can be challenging (i.e. casting). We had time to walk around the campground, walk down to the lake, swim in the pond behind us which was a great time for Rees and Izzy, and we ate the most wonderful restaurant 50/50 Brewery in Truckee. Yum-yum! Although, don't get me wrong we love the Wagon Wheel too. Can't beat a Smart meal and see Daddy's picture on the wall with Uncle Kurt. Mom and Kari did a great job with food. It was delicious. It was almost like being at home. Spoiled! Okay to the more challenging times. Rees become a "No" saying Mommies girl. The moment I moved more than two steps away, it was an immediate burst into hysterical screaming. Then to top it off, she was teething (didn't figure this out to later) and was up the first night at least 3 times uncontrollable crying which unfortunately the people who lived up in the mountains probably heard. Sorry residents of Truckee! The second night we drugged her up with Ibuprofen and really bundled her up. I think she might have also been cold. The temperature got down to 35 degrees and that is SUPER cold for us. So minus we were camping with a 14 month old, it was a great time. Izzy was a sport, even though she looked incredible bored at times, ahhh she can get over it. I did like her creative games with the pine trees and then when we broke out the ball and ladder game. Plus, I have never seen a kid so excited to go to bed being able to sleep in a tent with her Auntie Kari.
