This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Reesie's foot
Well after many months of watching her scoot on her bottom, I realized yesterday that something may be wrong with her left foot. It appears to be either not straightening, the foot, or that she is dragging that leg behind when she walks. Her right leg is strong and is able to point forward and go, but the left leg is behaving weird. So I immediately made a doctors appointment for Tuesday, we bought her Stride Rite tennis shoes today, and some fun walkers to practice her walking skills around the house. We can only hope that this is a temporary condition, that she will outgrow with strength. Immediately my special education teacher brain went to, "Okay, she might need a brace for her leg, some physical therapy, maybe an Individualed Family Service Plan (IFSP- like a baby IEP), Kaiser will be paying for this or I am getting an advocate, etc, etc.). So we are on a new journey with this child. As I was joking with my mom, I can only hope that this has a name that starts with an R to go along with RSV, Roseolla, and Rash.

One Year!

I cannot believe it, my baby will be one year old tomorrow. This is just not right. Where did the year go? She has 8 teeth, scoots (no crawling), furniture surfing, and today she sat on the couch and crawled over the arm rest and got onto the table. Hello!!! This is too early. She can drink from a straw or sippy cup especially sister's cup, loves blueberries, cheese, applesauce, and beans. She loves music, puzzles with big nobs on them, lovies, being in the bath, and be held. She is a lovie bug. She can give kisses, blow kisses, and wave. She knows "Ma", "Da", and "Dah" for the dogs. She is beginning to say Izzy. It sounds like "Z-Z". She is dangerous. She has fell out of the Bumbo into the sink, eats door stoppers by laying on her belly and gnawing them off, and has a personality that is demanding yet very sensitive. She is definitely a Momma's Girl (which I love to hate). Why can't you go to others? They love you so much. Be nice. That is what I am constantly telling her. I look forward to what this beautiful, tan, dimply girl has in store for us.
