This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Izzy is beginning to mimick animal sounds
We have been waiting for Izzy to acquire a 9-12 month skill (on the speech development chart) which is being able to copy animal sounds. She was sitting with Paul the other day and he was making the roaring lion sound and she copied him. He went through several other sounds and she copied those too. Yeah, to our roaring lion.
Izzy is singing
Izzy can sing the "E-I-E-I-O" in Old MacDonald and "Ashes, Ashes we all fall down" in Ring Around the Rosies. So cute!!!
Izzy's 1st wedding
Well I survived Izzy's 1st wedding (okay, maybe it is more like MiMa and Grandpa survived Izzy's 1st wedding). Izzy and I have flown twice in 3 weekends to attend events for Lindsay's wedding. I have learned so much about flying with an infant/toddler including: fly at nap time; buy a happy meal before hand because they get to eat and have a toy; dress them in sandals to go through security; run them around the airport to tire them and don't worry about the looks from business travelers (they'll appreciate it later when she is not screaming); take a deep breath when 5 minutes before you have to board the plane, she poops her pants; when she puts her foot in the sink and gets it all wet it is okay, it dries; request a top on the soda they give you on the plane; conversely when you get a soda with your happy meal watch how far they tip it (yes, all over), and I hate Webkins (it is this cute, soft, fuzzy, animal toy that all airports have to drive toddlers into a fit because their parent will not buy it). Anyways the wedding was beautiful. We had a great time. Izzy was beautiful and super well behaved. Everyone complemented me on how cute she is. Also we had a great time seeing all of our families. Izzy is beginning to remember her family. She calls her MiMa, MaMa and when asked to give something to Grandma Laura she walked right over with no problems.
