Izzy had a really good time at the zoo today minus her falling at one of the monkey exhibits and bleeding all over the place. She chased after ducks, saw the giraffe, watched the orangutans, saw fish and penguins, and looked at all the kids and trees. We look forward to doing it again this summer when she is able to walk just a little bit better.
This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Izzy's 1st trip to the zoo

Kisses
Izzy use to love to give us kisses when we would sign her "Kisses". Now, no kisses. So we started to work on blowing kisses and signing her I Love You. So when we drive in the car and she is sitting there I sign her I love you and she blows me kisses (melts your heart). Well, today Paul signed her kisses from across the room, no words, and she blew him kisses. She's made the connections.
When asked to open the door
Paul and I were sitting in the kitchen and Sedona started barking from the garage so we jokingly asked Izzy, "Hey, Izzy. Go open the door". What does Izzy do??? Walk to the door and attempt to open it. Hey, maybe this is a good thing?
So we have a little Houdini
Well, my little magician can open doors. Yes, not even 13 months old and has already mastered the art of leaving the room.
