Art

I had a great idea the other day (I am so proud of myself). We don't have a lot of money to buy paper, but I do have ugly wrapping paper that I would love to finish so what better way to use up the paper then to turn it over and use it as large sheets of paper for Izzy. It was great. I even was able to secure it on the window for her to use as an easel.

My other great discovery was that Izzy can color on our sliding glass window with crayons and it wipes right off with water. There are some crayons that are little harder, but others almost wipe off just with a towel. So she also can use that as a drawing area. This summer we are going to try adding additional soap to the paint and paint the windows as well. I am so excited.

Some great pictures from this week

Doctor Visit

We went to the doctors today and she did a great job. It took us 2 hours to get through with everything and again I am so happy we have Kaiser and everything is in one place. We saw the doctor, got lab work done to test for Lead and Anemia (results are already back and good, I even had Auntie Kari advising me on the results), visited the pharmacy for Fluoride since our water is of course, not fluorinated, and then off to injections to get a shot. Poor baby. We did learn she is 32 lbs, 34 in tall, and gives great high fives to our doctor.

Good Byes

Since, unfortunately, we say good bye to a lot of people, she has been practicing lots of new ways. Our favorites lately are "Adios, Mommy" and "Late Al-li-gator" (to Paul). Can you just imagine her little voice saying "Late Alligator"? So cute.

Happy Izzy

Since Izzy's birthday she is fascinated with birthdays, presents, and cakes. She calls a birthday cake a "Happy Izzy". She even runs to my car when I get home from work in hopes that I brought her a "Happy Izzy". She'll say, pointing to the trunk, "Mommy, Happy Izzy?"

A Practical Life Skill: Pouring

Auntie Lynn bought Izzy a beautiful set of glass pitchers for her birthday that we have used to practice pouring. We are trying to use two hands and then rotate the plate after pouring to always pour using her right hand into the left pitcher. She also is working on not drinking from the pitcher, although the water tastes so good.

Toddler going on Teenager

I have always said I am raising a teenager even though we just celebrated 2. She rarely wants to be cuddled, "super" independent, quiet, thinker, wants to be alone, writes on herself, doesn't want to eat veggies, and the best one so far "Go away, Mom-my!" "What?" I said. Yes, she told me to go away, so I did. I walked away from her tower and sat on the farthest bar stool to lament in what I was just told. Can you just hear that voice of hers? "Go away, Mom-my!" If this is only a hint of what I will be getting when she is a teenager, I better buckle up my seat belt, no five point harness because I am in for it.
