This blog is a story of two parents, both special educaton teachers, trying to raise a first grader and a precocious preschooler. We love to travel, cook, tend to our "backyard farm", and spend time with each other.

Uncle Paul
We have been so lucky to spend so much time with family lately; however, Isabella has decided that since Sydney calls Daddy, "Uncle Paul" and sometimes Daddy is busy, maybe if I call him Uncle Paul it will work. Well, she did it last night at Lynn and Nathan's and now all over town including the Home Depot, she was yelling down the aisles, "Uncle Paul!" "Uncle Paul!"

Faces of a Toddler
I just never knew.
I never knew how quickly a child can go from one feeling to the next. I mean I know that she is part Schlueter and part Claussen, but man she is wild to be around.
Is it just 22 months? Is it some secret that parents who have gone through it don't tell you? Is 22 months the beginning of terrible two's? We will keep you posted.
Izzy's Trip
We got to see the Burton's including meeting Ella for the first time. Izzy had a great time running around with Brody, playing with the dog, and borrowing Ella's puppy.
My mom, Izzy, and I waiting in line for the train at the Santa Ana Zoo. Loved the zoo. Lots of monkeys, a train, a carousel, and a playground. Can't beat that!
Izzy playing with the Wonderlick boys (Henry and Joshua). We loved to go to zoos with them.
Izzy with Auntie Kari on the carousel at the Irvine Spectrum.

We were so lucky to go and spend time with our friends and family while we were in Orange County.
Big Girl Bed
We have finally done it. She is out of her crib. We knew that she had no problem sleeping without a crib, as she has been doing that since she was an infant in Montessori school (they lay on flat beds on the floor). We have been waiting till Christmas to take her out of her crib and reconfigure the bed to the toddler bed. Paul changed it up today and we still have a few more pieces to get to put the rail up, but she slept in it all by herself without getting out of bed. Yeah! What a big girl.

The Monkey Is Back
I just cannot believe the amount of arm strength this child has. She can hang from anything and our drawers are not off limits. Paul and I were in the living room and Izzy walked into the kitchen, opened up two drawers that were next to each other, and proceeded to hang from them. Luckily, she let go before anything could happen, but we are now more careful when we hear two drawers open, we should check to make sure she is not hanging.
